Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound (CEUS) and Microbubbles

Here is some information about Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound (CEUS) being used to diagnose and treat different conditions.   As it turns out, one of CEUS’ capabilities is to detect biofilm infections http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4113671/ and potentially deliver antibiotics right to the bacteria hidden underneath.

A new study in the UK, led by Prof Bruce Turnbull (Leeds University), is focused on using CEUS and glycol-microbubbles to identify biofilm in the urinary tract, and to disrupt the biofilm and deliver antibiotics to the site of infection https://www.findaphd.com/search/projectdetails.aspx?PJID=30947
